Cairns in tropical north Queensland is the primary gateway to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest. Snorkeling and diving trips to the outer reef and scenic Kuranda Rail journeys into the rainforest are the most popular excursions.
