Partly — the full path to Barcaggio takes 5 to 6 hours one way, but the rewarding section from Macinaggio marina to the Tour Santa Maria is 2.5 to 3 hours one way along the Cap Corse nature reserve coast, mostly flat, on a well-marked dirt path with no shade. The watchtower itself — a roofless 16th-century Genoese ruin on a low cliff above turquoise water — is the photograph people come for. Realistic day-cruise option: walk 90 minutes north to Plage de Tamarone (a wild crescent beach with one beach bar open June to September), have lunch, walk back. Doing the full out-and-back to Tour Santa Maria on a cruise day means 6 hours of walking, no margin, and you will not be on the last tender. Bring 2 liters of water per person — there is no fountain past the marina.

Rogliano is 5 km up the hill from Macinaggio and the road climbs 300 m through chestnut and olive groves — walkable in about 75 minutes one way if you are fit, but the road is narrow with no sidewalk. Taxi one way runs 25 to 35 € from the marina rank (one or two cars meet most cruise tenders; call Taxi Cap Corse on +33 6 13 50 88 35 if none are waiting). A few small-ship lines run a Rogliano-and-tower shore excursion for 75 to 95 € that is honestly a fair price given the logistics. The village itself is tiny — Saint-Agnel church, the ruined Château de San Colombano, a single café — and 90 minutes on the ground is plenty.

Yes, from June through September. San Paulu and a couple of smaller operators run a 2.5 to 3 hour coastal cruise from Macinaggio marina that loops up to the Île de la Giraglia at the very tip of Cap Corse — the island has a 60-meter Genoese tower and an 1848 lighthouse, both still standing, but landing is not allowed (it is a nature reserve and the lighthouse is operational). The boat circles the island at slow speed and the crew narrates. Tickets are 38 to 45 € per person and the boat leaves around 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in season — the morning trip works for most cruise calls. Out of season (October to May) the trip does not run, so check before you walk down to the kiosk.

Only if your ship is in port for 9+ hours and you have already seen Cap Corse before. Bastia is the second-largest town in Corsica — a working Mediterranean port with a citadel, the baroque Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste, and a market square — and it is the real urban Corsica. But it is 45 minutes south by car or taxi each way (private taxi from Macinaggio runs 110 to 140 € one way), and the road down the east coast of Cap Corse is twisty enough that a few passengers get carsick. The point of calling at Macinaggio is the cape, not the city. If you want Bastia, take a ship that actually calls at Bastia — many do, including most mainstream lines. Skip the long drive.

Hot, dry, and windy. Cap Corse sits in the open Mediterranean and catches the Libeccio (southwest wind) and the Tramontane (north wind) — it is one of the windiest places on the Corsican coast, which is why the windmills above Rogliano were built here. Summer daytime highs are 28 to 31 °C (82 to 88 °F) in July and August, dropping to about 22 °C (72 °F) by sunset. Rain is rare from June to September — 3 to 4 days per month — but the wind can pick up to 40 to 60 km/h with no warning, which sometimes cancels the Giraglia boat trip and occasionally the tender. If the captain announces a wind delay at the morning briefing, take it seriously. Bring a hat that won't blow off, sunscreen, and 2 liters of water for any walking.

Cards work nearly everywhere, but bring 50 to 100 € in cash anyway. The restaurants on the marina front (U Libecciu, Le Pirate, La Vela d'Oro) all take contactless. The Spar grocery and the San Paulu boat kiosk take cards. Taxis usually take cards but a small number of older drivers still ask for cash, especially for short hops. There is one ATM at the Crédit Agricole agency on Place du Général de Gaulle, two blocks back from the marina — it dispenses euros, no fees on EU cards, around 3 € for non-EU cards. Tipping in France is not expected; service is included. Round up if you want to, that is it. Currency is the euro (EUR); Corsica is part of France and uses standard French notes and coins.
