The Colonial Harbour (Kolonihavnen) old town, the Greenland National Museum, Nuuk Cathedral, and the Katuaq Culture Centre are all within walking distance of the port. A Nuuk Fjord boat tour is the main organised excursion. It's a half-day town and a full-day place only if you add the fjord.

The Qilakitsoq mummies — naturally preserved 15th-century Inuit remains found in 1972 — are the museum's best-known holding. The collection also covers Greenlandic kayaks, hunting tools, and archaeology. It's small, well done, and central.
