Insider Tips

Things seasoned cruisers wish they knew

Wi-Fi

Disney offers no multi-device discounts. Each family member needs their own plan, and only one device can be connected at a time per plan. WiFi prices increased without advance notice in January 2026.

All Drinks

Unlike most cruise lines, Disney does not offer an unlimited drink package. Expect to pay $8-15+ per cocktail. A typical family's bar tab can reach $200-400+ for a 7-night cruise.

Gratuities

Gratuities are automatically added to your onboard account if not pre-paid. You can adjust at Guest Services, but Disney labels them as 'optional' while making them the default.

Room Service

The menu is more limited than other cruise lines. Late-night options are especially sparse.

Specialty Dining

Palo and Remy reservations fill up quickly; book at your earliest booking window or you may not get a table. An 18% gratuity is added automatically.

Tipping

Daily gratuities increased to $16/person/night for standard rooms in January 2025, and $27.25/night for Concierge. A family of four on a 7-night cruise pays $448+ in gratuities.

Cancellation

Cancellation penalties are steep: 50% of fare at 30-55 days out, 75% at 15-29 days, and 100% at 14 days or less. Concierge deposits are non-refundable from the moment of booking.

General

Disney does not offer an all-inclusive drink package. Alcohol is pay-per-drink only, which surprises guests coming from other cruise lines.

Booking

Hawaii sailings include an additional 14% Transient Accommodations Tax (11% state + 3% county) applied to the portion of your fare tied to time docked in Hawaii.

Age

Nursery care for children under 3 costs $9/hour and is not included. It's available on a first-come, first-served basis and can fill up on sea days.
