Taxi
Not applicable — no road traffic on Lelepa itself
Lelepa has no roads and no taxis. Movement on the island is on foot. Ground transport is only relevant on the Efate side: from Port Vila to Havannah Harbour the day-tour operator handles the bus transfer; if you go independently, a taxi from Port Vila to Havannah Harbour is roughly 5,000–7,000 vatu one way and you'll need to arrange the return separately because there's no taxi rank waiting on the harbour side.
Currency
Vanuatu vatu (VUV); cash only on Lelepa, AUD sometimes accepted in Port Vila
Vanuatu's currency is the vatu. On Lelepa itself, cards do not work — bring small-denomination vatu for crafts and tips at the village. Australian dollars are sometimes accepted in Port Vila shops on cruise days, but at a poor rate; ATMs in Port Vila (ANZ, BSP, Bred) dispense vatu and are the cleanest option. The independent day tour (10,900 vatu/adult) does not accept credit cards.
Day trip
Combine with Chief Roi Mata's Domain (UNESCO) — Mangaas + Hat Island
Fels Cave on Lelepa is one of three sites in the Chief Roi Mata's Domain UNESCO listing. The other two — Mangaas, the chief's residence on Efate, and his burial site on Artok (Hat) Island — can be combined into a single full-day cultural tour with a custom operator out of Port Vila. The standard Lelepa Island Tours day covers Fels Cave only. For all three, ask for the 'Roi Mata Cultural Tour' specifically.
Dock
No cruise dock in 2026; tender jetty under construction for Oct 2027 opening
There is no cruise pier on Lelepa today. Independent tour boats land on the beach from Havannah Harbour on Efate. Royal Caribbean is building a dedicated tender jetty on the east side of the island, designed for ships up to Quantum class — first ship calls scheduled for end of October 2027.
Dive sites
Trislander wreck snorkel and reef around Lelepa channel
The signature underwater attraction is the wreck of a Britten-Norman Trislander aircraft that crashed in the channel between Lelepa and Efate in 1990 — it sits in shallow, snorkel-accessible water. The surrounding fringing reef has good coral cover, schools of tropical fish, and resident green turtles. Most operators run snorkel rather than scuba on Lelepa; for full dive operations you're better based out of Port Vila.
Beach clubs
None today; Royal Beach Club Lelepa opens late October 2027
No commercial beach clubs operate on Lelepa as of May 2026. The Royal Beach Club Lelepa development includes East Beach (family), West Beach (adventure), and an Adults Cove, with the first cruise calls scheduled for the end of October 2027. Until then, the beach is the village beach, accessed via the local day tour.
