Your ship doesn't dock at Villefranche-sur-Mer — it parks in the bay and sends you ashore by tender, which is the most scenic commute you'll have all cruise.

Èze sits high on a ridge, so the train doesn't reach the medieval village itself. Take bus 82 from Nice (or the coastal bus along the Basse Corniche) up to Èze; the line connects the coast with the hilltop village. Allow extra time — it's a climb, and the bus is the only practical public option.
It's doable but it's the longest haul. Cannes is west of Nice, about an hour-plus by train from Villefranche-sur-Mer once you factor in connections. If you've already seen Nice and Monaco on previous trips, Cannes is a fine third choice; for a first visit, closer is better.
Plenty, if you'd rather not commute. The old town is a maze of stepped lanes, including the covered Rue Obscure; there's a small pebble beach, a 16th-century citadel, and waterfront cafés facing the bay. It's an easy, low-effort option for travelers who want the Riviera without the train logistics.
