Insider Tips
Things seasoned cruisers wish they knew
Azamara's WiFi is widely reported as slow and unreliable compared to other cruise lines. Even with the unlimited plan, don't expect reliable video calls or streaming.
Premium and top-shelf spirits, champagne, and premium wines are not included. An upgrade to the premium drinks package costs extra. A $10 corkage fee applies if you bring your own wine to restaurants or bars.
An 18% gratuity is automatically added to spa and salon services. These are not covered by the 'included gratuities' and can add up quickly on spa-heavy voyages.
The complimentary menu is a limited selection. Hot and premium items may incur additional charges.
The $35 cover charge is per person per visit plus 18% gratuity, so a couple dining at Prime C pays ~$83 total. Reservations are recommended as these small-ship restaurants have limited seating.
Cancellation within 60 days of sailing forfeits 100% of the cruise fare. Full payment is due 90 days before departure for standard cruises, 110 days for voyages 15+ nights.
Azamara operates small ships (690 guests). While this means intimate ports and personalized service, it also means fewer onboard entertainment options, smaller pools, and limited dining variety compared to larger ships.
While base gratuities are included, an 18% service charge is automatically added to spa treatments, premium drink upgrades, and specialty dining — these are separate from the included gratuities.
Suite deposits are significantly higher at $1,100/person compared to standard cabin deposits. Non-refundable deposit promotions forfeit the full deposit regardless of cancellation timing.
